The Forum: The Quarterly Publication of the Association For Death Education and Counseling

The Forum is ADEC's quarterly publication andserves dual purposes.

  • First, in support of ADEC’s mission of education, counseling and care of the dying, The Forum provides critical and up-to-date information to ADEC members on a variety of professional development themes. This normally includes summaries of research findings, analysis of the literature, critical commentary and discussion of issues pertinent to death education and counseling. In this aspect, The Forum is similar to other professional periodicals, and, to coin a phrase, is a “journalette.”

  • Second, The Forum is a vehicle for disseminating important association news and developments that are of interest to the general membership.

Each issue has a professional development theme that is the focus of the issue; the lead article is the centerpiece for each issue. The Forum follows APA format and the professional development theme articles provide bibliographies.

Many of the articles that appear in The Forum are written by invited authors who are specifically solicited by the editorial staff in the interest of furthering an identified professional development theme . However, The Forum staff also welcomes articles from ADEC members and non-members alike.

These articles undergo an editorial review by The Forum Editor, Associate Editor and Review Editor. If you are interested in submitting an article to The Forum for publication, keep in mind that content articles are organized around identified professional development themes. Themes identified or under consideration may be requested from the editorial staff and also are listed below. Please review the full author submission guidelines page before you submit an article to The Forum.
